WHEN Britain’s Got Talent stylists were planning the wardrobe for Disney-inspired girl band Misstasia they knew exactly who to turn to for their fairytale hair accessories!
The four-piece group each wore hand-made headpieces from my Enchanted collection to complement their princess prom-style dresses for the ITV show’s live semi-final.
Although my Enchanted collection was designed with brides in mind, stylists from the show thought their delicate ethereal quality would add to the girls’ sparkling winter wonderland fairytale look.
The girls performed ‘Let It Go’ from Disney’s Frozen movie – but sadly didn’t make it through to the final.

While my first love is bridal accessory design I’m always keen to expand my creative horizons – so when I was asked to create a special headpiece for actress Sheridan Smith to wear for a Royal engagement I jumped at the chance!
The stage and screen star wore my feather headpiece to Buckingham Palace to collect her OBE from the Duke of Cambridge.
Sheridan, star of critically-acclaimed dramas Mrs Biggs and Cilla and the hugely popular comedy Gavin and Stacey, chose a vintage-inspired look for her special appointment – a 1940s style navy and white tea dress which she teamed with towering navy velvet heels.
To finish off her look Sheridan wanted a headpiece to match her outfit – and she turned to London-based celebrity stylist and bridal gown designer Kate Halfpenny who recommended my work.
Kate stocks my designs in her bridal boutique Halfpenny London and suggested an adaptation of my ‘Ava’ bridal feather headpiece design made with navy feathers.
It was a real honour to be asked to make Sheridan’s headpiece for her big Palace appointment – I’ve always loved her and her work and it was fantastic to be able to play a small part in her special day.
I thought Sheridan’s vintage-inspired look was the perfect choice for her too – elegant and pretty and just a little bit cheeky, just like her!

So how do you like the new look?
The Debbie Carlisle website and online boutique has had a bit of make-over with a clean new layout and lots of snazzy new features which I hope will make browsing and buying my accessories a lot easier!
The new layout means you can view accessories by type or style, and the new-look product pages have an improved picture gallery which will allow you to zoom in on the detail to really see the products up close and personal!
A new checkout system will make it much easier to pay - as well as Paypal you can now pay with all major credit cards - and your postage fees are really simple to calculate and understand - no matter whether you are based here in the UK or are an international customer.
Even the blog has got a brand new look - and it's also easier for me to use, which hopefully means I'll be here more often too!
Unless you're an eagle-eyed reader you may not have spotted the biggest change - the shop sits in a brand new domain name, debbiecarlisle.com. This is part of a plan to gradually migrate from my original domain name of dcbouquets.co.uk to one which more accurately reflects the Debbie Carlisle brand name. Once things have bedded in I'll be moving my entire website over to the new debbiecarlisle.com address, but that will be a job for future Debbie, so watch this space!
I do hope you like the new look and find it easier to use - happy browsing! x

Today is a very special day for me – I get to finally share my new 2015 collection of bridal accessories with you!
The collection contains pieces with two very distinct styles to choose from – so whether you’re a vintage loving bride looking for a super-
‘Limelight’ is all about glitz and glamour and will appeal to brides looking for vintage-
Arabella crystal headband and cuff from the Limelight collection.
The entire Enchanted collection is available in both silver and a gorgeous warm antique gold tone – giving you plenty of choice when it comes to choosing your wedding day look. Most of the Enchanted designs are wired together with gold or silver plated wire and use intricately carved mother of pearl flowers which gives the pieces a more relaxed and bohemian feel. The silver versions use clear faceted Czech crystals mixed with tiny pale ivory freshwater pearls, while the gold versions use beautiful antique gold faceted Czech crystals which are partly glazed to create a delicate and warm golden shimmer.
The wired pieces are incredibly versatile and can be worn as hair vines which will curve around your head almost like ivy – giving you lots of choice about how and where you wear these pieces. There are lots of examples of ways to wear them here and on my website but the options are literally endless, allowing you to really use your imagination when it comes to accessorising your look. These wired vines are by their nature quite delicate but I have used a strong wire which allows the longer strands to be moulded into shape to curve around the head or over or into a hair style, giving you even more room for personalisation.
The Sylvie headpiece styled in three different ways (above)
Some of the pieces in Limelight were inspired by art deco design, while others owe more to the Hollywood glamour of screen sirens from the 1930s through to the 1950s, mixing geometric shapes with more fluid lines to create pieces that have their roots in vintage design but with a contemporary feel which will appeal to fashion-
Anna comb with mask veil from the Limelight collection.
All of the Limelight headpieces work well with my existing birdcage veil designs, and I’ve also added a new ‘mask veil’ made from the same soft fine French netting which pins at either side of the head and is a great way to wear a veil with a headpiece which can be easily removed later in the day without having to take off your headband or comb.
The ‘mask veil’ is also available as a set with two small combs called ‘Anna’ which you can use to pin the veil in place at each end and then remove the whole piece and re-
On a particularly cold and wet day earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with some very talented people on a photo shoot to showcase my brand new 2015 wedding hair accessories collection.

While the freezing temperatures may not have been ideal, our gorgeous model Ksenija was a real superstar -
The new collection includes ethereal floral vine pieces which are designed to trail across the hair and so I decided to include a floral backdrop on some of our pictures to reflect this more natural, relaxed botanical feel. As soon as I’d decided on the look I knew exactly where to turn -
Of course we needed an incredible photographer to pull together everyone’s work into a series of stunning images -
I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look behind the scenes of the 2015 photo shoot -
