Russell Blackburn opened his gorgeous boutique in Blackheath after nearly a decade working on top UK wedding magazines You and Your Wedding and Cosmopolitan Bride. The knowledge and expertise he gained from his role as marketing and fashion sales director at these top titles put him in the perfect position to open a new boutique which would breathe new life in to the London bridal scene.

The result is a stunning and extremely successful independent bridal boutique which appeals to stylish brides looking for quality and originality alongside a personal approach to finding the perfect wedding day look.

Russell’s experience and passion for styling brides has afforded him a highly-respected and well-known presence in the bridal fashion industry which has seen him regularly asked to contribute to leading wedding magazines Your and Your Wedding and Brides Magazine and he also headed up a team of bridal experts on Wedding TV’s bridal makeover show ‘Bridal Boudoir’.

    Debbie Carlisle 2015 Collection revealed

Posted on January 05, 2015 by Debbie Carlisle

Today is a very special day for me – I get to finally share my new 2015 collection of bridal accessories with you!

Isabella floral headband with Juliet Cap veil

The collection contains pieces with two very distinct styles to choose from – so whether you’re a vintage loving bride looking for a super-sparkly wedding accessory, or a bohemian bride looking for something with more of a woodland or floral feel, there should be something for you all!

‘Limelight’ is all about glitz and glamour and will appeal to brides looking for vintage-inspired sparkle from their wedding accessories while ‘Enchanted’ is inspired by the natural world and has a slightly more subtle shimmer and shine making it perfect for brides looking for a more delicate bridal accessory.

Arabella crystal headband and cuff from the Limelight collection.

The entire Enchanted collection is available in both silver and a gorgeous warm antique gold tone – giving you plenty of choice when it comes to choosing your wedding day look. Most of the Enchanted designs are wired together with gold or silver plated wire and use intricately carved mother of pearl flowers which gives the pieces a more relaxed and bohemian feel. The silver versions use clear faceted Czech crystals mixed with tiny pale ivory freshwater pearls, while the gold versions use beautiful antique gold faceted Czech crystals which are partly glazed to create a delicate and warm golden shimmer.

The wired pieces are incredibly versatile and can be worn as hair vines which will curve around your head almost like ivy – giving you lots of choice about how and where you wear these pieces. There are lots of examples of ways to wear them here and on my website but the options are literally endless, allowing you to really use your imagination when it comes to accessorising your look. These wired vines are by their nature quite delicate but I have used a strong wire which allows the longer strands to be moulded into shape to curve around the head or over or into a hair style, giving you even more room for personalisation.

The Sylvie headpiece styled in three different ways (above)

Some of the pieces in Limelight were inspired by art deco design, while others owe more to the Hollywood glamour of screen sirens from the 1930s through to the 1950s, mixing geometric shapes with more fluid lines to create pieces that have their roots in vintage design but with a contemporary feel which will appeal to fashion-conscious brides.

Anna deco crystal bridal hair comb with birdcage mask wedding veil

Anna comb with mask veil from the Limelight collection.

All of the Limelight headpieces work well with my existing birdcage veil designs, and I’ve also added a new ‘mask veil’ made from the same soft fine French netting which pins at either side of the head and is a great way to wear a veil with a headpiece which can be easily removed later in the day without having to take off your headband or comb.

The ‘mask veil’ is also available as a set with two small combs called ‘Anna’ which you can use to pin the veil in place at each end and then remove the whole piece and re-use the combs in  different ways for your meal and reception.

Behind the scenes: New Collection shoot

Posted on December 17, 2014 by Debbie Carlisle

On a particularly cold and wet day earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with some very talented people on a photo shoot to showcase my brand new 2015 wedding hair accessories collection.

Debbie (left) and hair stylist Alison Jenner at work.

While the freezing temperatures may not have been ideal, our gorgeous model Ksenija was a real superstar - even when she was forced to shrug off her jeans, dressing gown, work boots, shawl and hot water bottle in less-than-perfect conditions to ensure we got the look we wanted!

The new collection includes ethereal floral vine pieces which are designed to trail across the hair and so I decided to include a floral backdrop on some of our pictures to reflect this more natural, relaxed botanical feel. As soon as I’d decided on the look I knew exactly where to turn - to Anna Potter from Swallows and Damsons whose work I have admired for years…and somehow she totally got my ‘twiggy florals’ brief!

Make-up artist Alex Jones (below left) created three different beautiful looks which worked perfectly with hair stylist Alison Jenner’s work. For the hair we went for natural loose waves followed by a soft and delicate unstructured up-do - both of which looked amazing with the new designs.

Of course we needed an incredible photographer to pull together everyone’s work into a series of stunning images - and so I turned straight to India Hobson. This was the fourth year in a row that we have worked together on my new collection photo shoot -and this time India was also able to provide the setting for our shoot, the amazing Sheffield studio space and venue 156 Arundel Street which she has been helping to renovate and is already proving to be a major success story! India always produces the most beautiful images and we both agree that this is our best shoot yet - although you’ll have to wait a little longer to see the full results!

I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look behind the scenes of the 2015 photo shoot - and that you like what you’ve seen so far of the new collection. The 2015 collection launches early next month on my website - keep an eye on my social media pages for more information.
